A 20-year-old man has been charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of a 16-year-old boy in Huddersfield town centre on Thursday afternoon.

The teenager later died in hospital as a result of his injuries.

Alfie Franco, from Kirkburton, is due to appear at Leeds Magistrates’ Court today, facing charges of murder and possession of a bladed article.

Meanwhile, a man and a woman who were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender have been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
